If we deconstruct our consumption and dependancy on industry, we can unpack each thing we use money for and inspect our deep ties with this thing, our longing, our enjoyment, our addiction or simple pleasure. We see where we can take shortcuts, find substitutions that hit the same notes of satisfaction and find new (or revive old) solutions. At The Apocalypse Pantry one of our aims is to be as independent as we can, as sovereign as we wish to be while also inspiring newer decentralised systems. This means an avoidance of mass produced highly commodified product, be it foods of the agro-industrial complex or cosmetics, and now smokes.
It is our pleasure to invite you to join us for a Smokablez Workshop where you will learn how to forage, dry, blend, roll and smoke your own herbs.
Smoking is a practice that cultures around the world observe, everywhere there are indigenous peoples, you will find the practise of smoking. Why is this? We ask these questions and try find collective solutions. The point is, if smoking is practised the world over, how comes we only smoke tobacco? Enter the fields of commodity. Tobacco is a sacred plant used in divination and sacred healing practice, grown in the America's. Yet now its found throughout the world and is smoked recreationally and is highly addictive and detrimental for the health of the smoker and those around them. Now, don't get me wrong, tobacco is a strong medicine and smoking it is not bad but smoking in excess is. We will explore other options of smoke, entice you with flavours and fragrance. See our first exploration and video here.
Tea, coffee and nibblez will be served. The workshop will be held in Cape Town, South Africa. More details once you register.
